Deepest Purple Strat (re-) build

Since I've determined I have 2 necks on-hand that will fit this beast, I decided to resume work on sanding the body of what will, eventually, become a Deepest Purple-finished strat.

Problem is, this thing was originally coated in one hell of a thick/tough paint job of gloss Black...
It has proven very difficult to sand it away, especially in the cut-away horns, where none of my sanders will fit..

So.. break out the old, aging hands, and some elbow-grease..

hopefully, next day or so, I can secure the primer and the paint, and begin the finishing..
